I began doing phone therapy in the early 90's in response to a growing demand for my work from people who did not live within reasonable traveling distance.
I now work by phone with clients throughout the United States and other countries as well.
While phone therapy may not work for everyone, it does for most people. Phone therapy allows clients to conveniently work with me over long distances, while they're in the comfort of their own home or office.
And for some clients, phone therapy works better than face to face therapy because it helps overcome many of the emotional and structural issues that typically burden a therapy relationship in the early stages—before a client feels trust and comfort.
Studies show how effective phone therapy can be. (see for example: Ludman, E. Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, April 2007; vol 75; Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice September 2008 Volume 15, Issue 3Pages 153–261)
